Show THE CHURCH REVIEW

EAST SIDE BAPTIST.
The dinner by the Ladies' Aid Society on Dec. 17th and 18th was a great success.
Last Sunday morning, Dec. 15, Rev. T. J. Collins preached upon the parable of the "Unjust Steward." He likened the steward to the covetous man of today. The steward is worse than the prodigal, for the latter wasted his own goods while the former robbed his master. The steward represents a class of people harder to reach and more ruinous than the prodigal. As stewards of God we are to use the means he bestows to advance His kingdom. The owner has a right, to expect proper returns. So God justly demands income and will just as surely discharge the unfaithful steward as the master in the parable. Under the old dispensation the Jews were required to give one tenth of their possessions, then should not we under the gospel teachings scorn to do less?
The Y. P. S. C.
