This photo is a copy of the original and is in very good condition. However, the quality of the image is subpar. On the back of the photo, inscribed in pen, is: "Paul P. Brainard," "Paul Porter Brainard," "1931-1932". There is also yellow adhesive brushed onto the back of the photo. Brainard served as the Acting Dean of Westminster College and Professor of Psychology from 1931 to 1932, while Dean Perry L. Stevenson was on a year long sabbatical to receive his Ph.D. from New York University. A native of Ogden, Utah, Brainard received an A.B. from Whitman College, an A.M. from Columbia University, and a Ph.D. from the University of Michigan; he conducted additional graduate work at the University of Iowa and Stanford University. Before serving as the Acting Dean of Westminster, Brainard worked as a Superintendent of Schools in Nyssa, Oregon, and as a Professor and Lecturer of Psychology and Education at Kansas State College, the University of Michigan, and the University of Iowa. After his one-year contract was up, Brainard was offered and accepted the position as faculty member and Director of Teacher Training at the University of Utah. |
