Description |
Railroad tracks in Corinne, Utah. Building at the left was the first passenger depot built circa 1872. At the right of the tracks is the old freighting warehouses. Across what was once North Front Street (1869) were livery stables, blacksmith shops, hotels, etc. Corinne was established as an anti-Mormon or "Gentile" settlement, determined to overcome the dominate religious influence in Utah. The origin of its name varies from it being named after General Partrick E. Connor, commanding officer at Fort Douglas, to it being named after a well-known actress, Corinne LaVaunt. Despite thriving plans of development, lasting growth in Corinne never occurred. |
