Show A group photograph of the Westminster College sophomore class of the 1920-1921 academic year. There are sixteen young women and thirteen young men. The women are wearing a variety of dark and light colored blouses, dresses and/or skirts. All the women in the front row wear dark shoes. The men, for the most part, are wearing dark overcoats, sweaters, or suit coats. The exception are two fellows, one in the first row very left who wears a light sweater and another in the back row very right who wears a light colored suit coat. The young men are all wearing long neck ties with a variety of dark and light colored shirts beneath their coats or sweaters. The twenty-nine student group is standing outside on the stairway of Ferry Hall in three semi-structured rows. The ground is splotchy with water in the foreground in front of the group. |
Further Information |
The photograph is in poor condition. It has a tear at the bottom from being forced off a hard backing to which it was glued to for many years and the back is also covered with glue stains. The only handwritten marks on the front are the academic year, "1920-1921" written in the small white border of the photograph at the bottom. On the back, written in pencil is, "1920-21." The rest of the back is plastered with stamps. The first and most discernable is a stamp identifying the college: "WESTMINSTER COLLEGE, 1840 So. 13th East (Edgehill Blvd.) SALT LAKE CITY, UTAH." In the center are three overlapping stamps, two from the same company. The information is very obscure accept for the title of the companies. The most discernable of the three stamps says, "PHOTO ARTS COMPANY, INC 108 SO. MAIN SALT LAKE CITY, UTAH." The same stamp appears overlapping slightly to the right. The third stamp says, "SAINSBURY-SIDDOWAY PHOTO CO. Commercial Photographing Kodak Finishing Films Etc. Main Street Salt |
