Letter from senator William King to Commissioner of Indian Affairs Burke, regarding the conflicts between the Ute and Paiute Indians in South-western Utah. He calls for land to be given to the Paiutes, who annoy the white settlers because of their poverty; he also calls for the Ute people to remain on their reservation so as to minimize the conflict between them and the white settlers. He is angry with the federal government for not taking action sooner and demands that changes be made to the situation. |
