Description Isolated congenital absence ofme optic chiasm is a rare cause of nystagmus, described previously in five patients. Here we present a 29-year-old man with congenital midline and limb malformations consistent with partial VACTERL (vertebral defects, anal atresia, cardiac defects, trachea-esophageal fistula with atresia, renal defects, and limb defects), who developed progressive nystagmus, vision loss, photophobia, and headache.
