Update Item Information
Title First Cabin in Vernal
Identifier 1759.tif
Subject Log cabins
Description Pardon Dodds and his wife in front of their log cabin, the first built in Ashley Valley. Dodds arrived in Whiterocks in 1866. He served as the first Indian Agent for the Ute Indian tribe from 1867 to 1873. He then moved to the Ashley Valley and built this cabin. (C.J. Neal touched up this photo to place cottonwood trees behind the cabin rather than show the Dodds' newly built house.)
