Description |
Head of Main Street with city library in foreground, which also housed the city offices. Photograph is taken from in front of the high school. Kanab was settled in 1864 with Jacob Hamblin playing an important role. In 1866 the area was temporarily vacated due to Indian troubles then resettled in 1871. The name Kanab is Piute meaning willow, referring to the number of willows along the creek. |
