Description
HUMIS Content Management System by Randy Madsen, Humanities. The College of Humanties had a need for a content management system. The project grew out of a data base to handle "people" information. It was two years in the making using mostly humanities staff resources. Many of the college websites had no real connection with the University look and feel. They created a backend system for faculty information in a database. Came up with a scalable, easy to update system. Page designs are similar but not the same. Pages are managed dynamically via a database. Secretaries, graduate students, can easily keep the site updated. It uses a Java applet. Documents, photos can be uploaded by anyone. Data on people - faculty members can enter their own info into database to generate faculty pages. HUMIS developers want to work with central data systems on campus for official, authoritative information plus local information. HUMIS uses stylesheets and HTML, SQL, PHP and Perl.
