OSL Update - Craig Bennion Licensing, activation from Microsoft (from last month) update: MAK is probably the best agreement/method for campus. The other method of running a server on campus that talks with Microsoft probably won't work as well with professors on sabbaticals, etc., who can't authenticate to the server each time. (1) Single use (2) MAK - one key for the whole university, with a fixed #of machines it can license - a caveat. (3) Campus Server If we license things using the MAK method, they'll increase the # on our key as we need to activate more. Will Microsoft automatically increase the number or will we have to call OSL? Margaret will keep tabs on it and call Microsoft as we need. Microsoft will not provide records of which machines have been activated so we can trace problems. A new key will be issued if the old one gets outside the U.
