Description Birdshot retinochoroidopathy is a well-known but poorly understood chronic posterior uveitis in which optic nerve involvement commonly accompanies active disease. This disease is strongly correlated with the HLA-A29 allele which increases risk of birdshot retinochoroidopathy by 50 to 224 fold.
