Show DEPARTMENT OF THE INTERIOR UNITED STATES INDIAN FIELD SERVICE Towaoc, Colorado, January 17, 1924. Commissioner of Indian Affairs, Washington, D. C. Sir: Receipt is acknowledged of the Commissioners letter of the 5th inst, directing me to make surveys of certain oil and gas lands on the Ute Indian Reservation. I will proceed to start these surveys in the next few days. The Office will please continue to send mail to me at my present address. Funds allotted and unexpended at the beginning of the present quarter was approximately $1,200.00. This I believe will be sufficient to carry on the work. In connection with the making of surveys for oil and gas lands I request authority to expend $400.00 for the hire of two assistants at not to exceed $5.00 per day and subsistence at not to exceed $35.00 per month for the two.
