Image was scanned from color slide. Note: Ikebana is the Japanese art of flower arrangement which emphasizes shape, line and form as well as a minimalist style. While there are numerous schools of Ikebana, the three main schools are: Ikenobō, Ohara and Sōgetsu. Ikenobō is the oldest school, dating back approximately 500 years. It is thought to have been created by Buddhist priests. The origins of traditional Japanese flower arrangement are linked to Rokkaku-dō Temple in the medieval Muromachi period (1336 to 1573).--Wikipedia. |
