Description Pharmacologic manipulation of CSF production, a potential tool for therapy of a wide spectrum of acute and chronic CNS disorders associated with increased intracranial pressure including pseudotumor cerebri, is currently severely restricted by a paucity of specific effective drugs. Fragmented models of choroid plexus membrane transport physiology and the ubiquitous nature of the known membrane ion pumps has hindered specific therapeutic approaches. Exploration of the choroid plexus epithelium as a specialized selective interface with the brain demands precise identification of its multiple active transport functions and their regulation.
