Show ( copy) UNITED STATES OF AMERICA District of Colorado IN THE DISTRICT COURT OF THE UNITED STATES FOR THE DISTRICT OF COLORADO No. 2850 UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, Plaintiff, vs. Tse-Na-Gat, otherwise called Pa-woo-Tach, otherwise called Everett Hatch, Defendant. ) It now appearing to the court and the judge thereof that the above named defendant is an indigent person, is now confined in the county jail at Denver under a charge of murder heretofore preferred against him by the grand jury, that by reason thereof he is unable, financially and otherwise, to prepare or aid in preparing his defense against said charge. IT IS, THEREFORE, ORDERED that Mr. Henry McAllister and Mr. Charles L. Avery, members of the bar of this court, heretofore appointed to defend him, may incur expenditures not to exceed Five hundrad dollars in preparation of said defense, and for that purpose, and as items of said expenditure , may go to the scene or vicinity of the scene of the alleged homicide for the purpose of ascertaining who may be necessary witnesses in behalf of the defendant and interviewing said witnesses, and to that end may em- ploy and compensate guides and other assistants, and may engage and avail themselves of the services of an interpreter or interpreters of the Indian tongue of which race the defendant is a member, and may pay the compensa- tion, traveling and other expenses of such interpreters and may incur other incidental outlays in relation thereto, and may also incur and pay expenses for telegrams and telephones and for stenographic services in preparation for and at the trial in so far as they may deem the same necessary in proper defense against said charge. After said expenditures have been incurred by said McAlliator and Avery, or either of them, they or he shall render an itemized and verified abatement thereof which, on approval of the court, will be allowed as necessary cost in said prosecution, for which reimburse- ment shall be made to them by the United States.
