Description |
Uintah County Courthouse was built in 1900. The two story red brick building was located at about 150 East Main. Each office in the building was heated seperatedly with a potbellied coal stove. The courthouse was a center of justice where in 1910 it was its first murder trial. The courthouse was a community gathering spot for 59 years. On the grounds stood the famous World War I Doughboy Statue. A gazebo and rose garden were nearby. Picnics were common and families and neighbors came together to celebrate events and share stories. In 1959 the courthouse was town down and replaced with a new building. |
