| Description |
From: Art Work of Utah, 1896. Street-level view (looking west from Main Street) at First (1st) South Street, Salt Lake City, Utah. Image shows Jennings Block and "Old Clock Corner." Utah State Bank, previously Eagle Emporium, was built by William Jennings (pioneer merchant and mayor of Salt Lake City, Utah Territory, from 1882 to 1885), and later became the first home of Z.C.M.I. (Zion's Co-operative Mercantile Institution). The Jennings Block joins the building on rear. During the 1960's, Jennings Block was demolished, leaving the bank standing alone, surrounded by parking lots. |
