Description |
FACTS ABOUT PLASTIC BAGS: In China, 37 million barrels of oil are saved yearly due to a ban of plastic bags. 10% of the debris on the United States coastline is plastic bags. In Australia alone, 6.9 Billion plastic bags are used every year which could circle the world 42.5 times. In the Eastern Pacific Gyre plastic particles outnumbered plankton 6 to 1 in 1999. Today plastics outnumber plankton 46 to 1. CONCEPT: We hope to personify the destructive qualities of plastic bags on the natural environment. We also present the opportunity for a simple change in our lives to protect our environment for future generations by using reusable bags instead of plastic bags. This becomes a ritual in itself by reminding us of the changes we've made to maintain the health of the environment. |
