The muscular layer of the bladder is much thicker than that of the ureter. The smooth muscle of the bladder wall is arranged in bundles, and comprised of three separate layers. On this section only the inner longitudinal and middle circular layers are included. The transitional epithelium and lumen of the bladder can be seen on the left hand side of this image.
