Description |
Helicobacter cinaedi, previously called Campylobacter-like organism type I or Campylobacter cinaedi, is now considered to belong to a separate genus. This organism can be isolated from the feces and intestines of healthy hamsters and is thought to be a normal intestinal inhabitant of these common pets. A case of septicemia and meningitis caused by H. cinaedi occurred in a neonate whose mother cared for pet hamsters during the first two trimesters of her pregnancy. |
