Further Information |
This photograph is a copy of the original and is in fairly good condition. However, the quality of the image is subpar. On the back of the photo, inscribed in pen, is: "Perry L. Stevenson," "Perry L. Stevenson," "1926-1933". There is also yellow adhesive brushed onto the back of the photo. Stevenson served as Dean of Westminster College from 1926 to 1933. He was born on August 27, 1890 in Atkinson. He attended Wooster College for three years, finished and received his A.B. and A.M. from the University of Colorado. He conducted additional graduate work at Columbia University and the University of California. Stevenson received a Ph.D. from New York University while on a leave of absence from 1931 to 1932. Before serving as the Dean of Westminster College, Stevenson taught Mathematics at the State Preparatory School in Boulder, CO, at Salt Lake Collegiate Institute, and finally at Westminster College, where he was the head of the Mathematics Department. On October 21, 1933, while still serving as Dean, Stevenson suffered from a massive heart attack while attending a homecoming football game at Westminster. He was immediately rushed to his home and passed away soon thereafter, to the great sadness and shock to all who knew him. |
