The Utah women's cross country team placed third at the Utah Open Friday afternoon while sophomore Emma Christensen paced the Utes finishing in 11th place overall. Christensen finished the five-kilometer course in a time of 19:16.7 to lead the Utes across the finish line. Coming in behind Christensen was seniors Hannah Allred and Megan Perkins. Allred finished in 14th with a time of 19:27.1 while Perkins placed 16th with a time of 19:32.4. Rounding out the top five scorers for the Utes was sophomore Astrid Lindgren and junior Anna Busatto. Lindgren earned 24th in a time of 20:14.1 and Busatto captured 27th with a time of 20:33.6. Running unattached for the Utes and placing first in her first meet of the season was sophomore Bella Williams. Williams captured the race title finishing in a time of 18:36.8. Also running unattached for the Utes was freshman Brooke Manson. Manson placed 31st with a time of 21:24.2. As a team, the Utes finished in third place with a total of 70 team points. No. 9 BYU took home the team title with a total of 23 team points and No. 27 Utah State placed second with a total of 39 team points. Westminster finished fourth with 110 total team points. |
