Show THE CHURCH REVIEW.

AMERICAN FORK
The seventh sermon of the series on "Christians vs. Mormon Doctrine" was delivered on Sabbath evening from I. Cor. 15:29 upon the subject: "Salvation for the Unsaved Dead by Proxy Baptism," or "Baptism for the Dead." The audience was one of the largest we have had and the interest, during the entire hour occupied with the Scriptural argument against the doctrine was marked. Every "proof text" used by the supporters of the peculiar ordinance was carefully examined and interpreted in the context and the Scriptures in their entirety, and the conclusion of the Mormons in their "Compendium," page 45, was shown to be very plausible, viz: that "the doctrines pertaining to the salvation of the dead were imperfectly taught" (to the "former-day Saints"), * * and that very "little is said in the New Testament on the subject." YEA, VERILY! The Christian view of the doctrine was stated to be as follows:
1st. It is un-Scriptural
2nd. " |
