Show WINCHESTER REPEATING ARMS CO. Manufacturers of Rifles Shotguns Small Arms Ammunition Fishing Tackle Skates Cutlery Flashlights Tools New Haven, Conn., U.S.A. April 30, 1924. Mr. E. E. McKean, Consolidated Ute Agency, Ignacio, Colorado. Dear Mr. McKean: Answering your letter of the 24th with reference to the story in the Winchester Herald on the Ute Indian story I am sending you under separate cover a copy of the Herald of November 1922 that contains the story in question. The story, as I read it, says that two Wilson boys were killed. I was wondering whether the one who is now applying for compensation is another brother who got away, or did the writer of the article get too many people killed. I would like to know this because I have turned the three stories that won first, second and third prize in this contest over to Field and Stream to be used some time later in the year and if there are any inaccuracies I would like to correct them before they are published again. I am very glad to be of assistance to you. Very truly Yours, Peter P. Carney |
