Show A presumed photograph of the heating plant taken from what is said to be the future sight of the Dane Hansen Stadium. The view is mostly a large field of what is identified as "alfalfa" in the caption written at the bottom along the white border. In the background is a wall of foliage and behind that wall are homes. The most visible home is located at the very center. Its multi-vaulted roof can be seen above the wall of foliage. At the very left is a structure with a tall smoke stack. This is probably the heating plant the caption is talking about. |
| Further Information |
This photograph is in good condition. The front has the identification caption written along the bottom white border which reads, "Alfalfa field - Heating plant - 1926." It is uncertain whether this caption is correct in identifying the true nature of what this field is growing and which one of the few structures visible is the heating plant. The back outlining edge is covered in glue stains. Written in black ink at the top is, "Campus Alfalfa field At site of Present Stadium." A stamp has been placed in the very center which reads, "Shipplers Commercial Photographers Salt Lake City." As mentioned the information used to identify the contents of this photograph have come under speculation. The heating plant is not identified and the supposed alfalfa growing in the field may not be alfalfa. The heating plant was one of the major needs that kept the college from opening after the completion of Converse and Ferry Halls in 1907 and 1908. The campus and its two structures remain |
