Junior Vanessa Mortensen led the way by taking gold in the hammer throw with 60.50m. Her mark is not only a new personal record, but also a new school record and Danish national record for the Fredensborg, Denmark native. Senior Candice Workman-Ekberg and junior AJ Roby also had strong performances for the throwing squad. Workman-Ekberg took gold in shot put with 14.36m and finished second in the discus with 43.39m. Roby won the discus with an impressive 43.67m distance. Sophomore Amanda Feigt dabbled in several events in preperation to compete in the heptathlon later this season. Feigt finished second in the long jump (5.96m), seventh in the 200m (25.82), 14th in the 100m-hurldes (15.15) and 17th in the shot put (9.47m). On the men's side, sophomore Dustin Cutrer, senior Nephi Tyler and senior Delfino Arevalo led the way. Cutrer finished second in the javelin with 56.33m, while Arevalo claimed fourth in the 1,500 (3:59.84) and Tyler finished seventh in the 800 (1:53.09). |
