The Kirtland Temple was built under the direction of LDS Church prophet Joseph Smith and was dedicated in 1836. It is currently (since 1880) owned and operated not by the LDS Church, but by the Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, or the Community of Christ. |
