Letters to Earl Douglass received in January through June of 1899, including from M.J. Elrod at the University of Montana in Missoula; Fred D. Smith, also at the University in Missoula; William J. Foreman at Virginia City, Mont.; Luther Foster at Logan, Utah; Nettie G. White at Missoula; William T. Coffey at Ennis and Meadow Creek, Mont.; Mrs. H. C. Irish at St. Louis, Mo.; Walter Harvey Weed at the U.S. Geological Survey; and Philip J. Maguire at Chicago. Princeton offered Douglass a scholarship and he worked in the field through the summer. Meanwhile, the University of Montana was interested in having Douglass teach there part-time. |
