Gilbert Capstone. The capstone of G.K. Gilbert's monument marked the site of the astronomic pier from which A.H. Thompson observed the stars and integrated the Kanab Base Line with other parts of the United States. It reads 76 F.T. E OF BL, which means the monument was 76 feet east of the Kanab Base Line. It is at the north end of the base line. This capstone is part of the Powell Historical marker at Kanab, Utah. |
