Letters from Allen H. Lundgren in Germany to wife Ruth in Salt Lake City during January of 1945, while serving in the U.S. Army's Counter Intelligence Corps during World War II. The letter of Jan. 4 describes the captured writings of a 17-year-old girl who was a leader of a Hitler Youth group. The letter of Jan. 23 begins to recount remarkable people he has met in the past year, ranging from members of the French Resistance to young Germans of the Hitler Youth. Some sections were whited-out by the censor. Letters dated Jan. 2, 4, 5, 7, 9, 10, 13, 14, 16, 17, 18, 19, 20, 21, 23, 26, 31, and two undated letters placed at the end. |
