Description Franklin D. Richards Grist Mill at Farmington, Utah operated for 40 years as a grist mill and then 28 years as the Heidelberg Restaurant. The Mill became a private residence in 1992. This building, designed by Frederick Kesles, was the second grist mill to serve the community of Farmington. Rock and lumber came from the nearby canyon. James Leithead and Reuben Broadbent were the workmen. After the death of Dr. Richards, his nephew Franklin D. replaced the mill with (pictured) rock mill which operated from 1862-1900. New owners in the 1920s used it to store fruit. It was equipped as a power station to furnish electricity for the mill and Lagoon Resort. It also served as an ice house.
