Show being "drummers" for God as men are for merchandise! in NO OTHER WAY can this people (and many others) be even reached for God. A special society has long been at work for this peculiar people, called

THE UTAH GOSPEL MISSION
of Cleveland, Ohio. It ha [sic] (1934) covered the whole central Mormon region, 800 by over 200 miles, towards seven times from house to [h]ouse, giving the people almost their only gospel chance. It now has nine unsalaried missionaries at work in the West, living in great gospel autos, winter and summer alike. It has had 522,572 at its meetings, presenting the greatest Bible truths; has made 367,290 house-to-house colporter [sic] calls, using over 42,352,754 pages of special literature in these half-hour talks at homes and in meetings; has sold and given 37,994 Bibles and portions,-besides thousands of text-calendars, song-books, etc., sold.
While we serve without any salary, to meet Mormon cavils against the ministry, (as the writer has done for now 36 years), the plain foods, clothing, special printed matter to give away, travel costs, etc., must be provided; which we have done with such economy that the total cost for nine men, the Secretary and office expense during 1933 was only less than $3,000 (see items in Annual), though far more should have been available. And we believe that our men will average in usefulness with most pastors.

WILL NOT THE READER HELP?
The Mission has of course felt the "depression" deeply; but the needs continue and the gospel supply should do so, both West and East. To even curtail it much would be a calamity, and cannot* be right. Unnecessary and even harmful things can flourish even in hard times; why should such spiritual necessities really suffer? Would it not be better to even clip some temporal necessities than this great spiritual one? Will not the reader think and pray whether he ought not to help in some amount, even if small; letting us know soon what we may hope for from him? The writer has given many years of life, and all the dollars he could; will not many new friends come to our aid soon? We need to know the outlook so that we can engage the men by early June.
Our quarterly paper, Light on Mormonism*, is the best source of information on its subject, aside from our tracts. Pastors need it, and most churches should have numbers coming for distribution free. Just NOW we will send 25 or more at only 8 cents a year*, in one bundle: large quantities even less. Samples with Publication List of tracts, etc., sent free. We need your help, and almost everybody needs ours, after 41 years in the work with Mormonism. Address The Utah Gospel Mission, 9277 Amesbury Ave., Cleveland, Ohio, U.S.A.*
(OVER)

* the following is italicized: "cannot," "Light on Mormonism," " 8 cents a year," and the entire address listed at the end for the Utah Gospel Mission. |
