The expedition started in Green River, Utah, on June 20, 1938 and ended at Lake Mead, Arizona on August 1, 1938. Mr. and Mrs. Glen Hyde were killed after reaching below the Bright Angel Trail in the Grand Canyon. Bessie Hyde was the first and only woman to make an attempt prior to the Nevills expedition. The inscription is now under the high water mark of Lake Powell |
