Building located at 184 East Vine Street built in 1907 |
Subject |
Murray church; Murray religion |
Description |
With the creation of a new city, the South Cottonwood Ward was divided and Murray First Ward was formed in 1906 with Bishop Uriah G. Miller as first Bishop. Construction of the new chapel was finished in 1907 at a cost of $25,000. The building included a beautiful stained glass window that was carefully removed and relocated into the new chapel further east on Vine. The wooden benches are still located in the chapel area but have been turned around to face a stage area constructed for the Vine Street Theater. This building now serves as Mt. Vernon Academy. |
