Description |
In the city of Magna, there are a growing number of new neighborhoods, and almost all new communities are surrounded by a wall. Nonconforming paths to cul-de-sacs are tied together by a border wall allowing only a few exits. By creating a perimeter around a housing area and limiting the amount of public space ehre is a higher ownership in the area and therefore people are more inclined to protect their property. By looking at the newer and older communities of Magna and somparing it with the crime statistics an interesting trand can be seen. Domestic violence and suspicious activity is considerable higher in the older areas whereas the amount of car theft is found almost exclusively in the walled, newer areas. Other crimes such as burglary, assault, drug offences and vandalism remain constant throughout the entire city. |
