Description While papilledema is a hallmark of idiopathic intracranial hypertension (IIH), the causes of decreased vision can be multifactorial, including hyperopic shifts, optic neuropathy, macular edema, and subretinal fluid (SRF). Macular ellipsoid zone (EZ) loss has previously been reported in IIH and may be a persistent finding, but its etiology and long-term visual significance remain unclear.1-2 Our goal was to determine the prevalence of chronic EZ loss in patients with IIH and its association with prior SRF and papilledema severity.
