Description Anesthesia dolorosa is a syndrome of numbness and pain in the same sensory distribution. This combination of symptoms is thought to be caused by an injury to the first order neurons with spontaneous firing of the second order neurons. It has been described in association of injuries related to surgery or radiation, but may present as an early sign of cancer.
