Description Terson syndrome (TS), originally defined as vitreous hemorrhage (VH) in the setting of subarachnoid hemorrhage (SAH), now includes any intraocular hemorrhage (subretinal, intraretinal, subhyaloid, or vitreous) secondary to acute intracranial hemorrhage (ICH) and elevated intracranial pressure. Bedside ocular fundus imaging technology may allow for improved diagnosis of TS in patients acutely ill with ICH. We reviewed the literature for publications on the prevalence and prognostic significance of intraocular hemorrhage in patients with acute ICH.
