Description Color Doppler imaging (CDI) has recently been introduced as a non-invasive technique for assessing orbital vasculature.' CDI offers advantages over conventional duplex ultrasonograhy by permitting simultaneous visualization of tissue and flow information. Using this technology, we have recently recognized five patients with ophthalmic artery (OA) stenosis, an entity previously requiring invasive cerebral arteriography for diagnosis. These patients all presented with central retinal artery occlusion or amaurotic episodes.
