Description |
Four patients with intraorbital malignancies (2 malignant melanomas of the nerve sheath, 1 malignant Triton tumor mixture of approximately 20% malignant Schwannoma and 80% rhabdomyosarcoma and 1 malignant mesenchymal with chondrosarcoma elements), one with orbital and temporal fossa Ewing's sarcoma, and one with severe sclerosing orbital. pseudotumor had surgery and intraorbital lavage with fat injection of cyclophosphamide (cytoxan). This approach was used for two reasons. First, because the tumors were necrotic, friable and infiltrative such that only subtotal piecemeal (not total en bloc) was feasible, their potential for at least microscopic residual mandated that either radiotherapy or chemotherapy or both be used as adjunctive therapy. |
