Subject Idiopathic Intracranial Hypertension; Family History
Description The cause of idiopathic intracranial hypertension (IIH) remains unclear despite many, and varied, proposed etiologies. We have recently seen two patients who fit the diagnostic criteria for IIH (including one patient who was not obese), and who also had a family history of the disorder in their mothers. This is an uncommon occurrence and we received the literature for similar cases to determine, especially in light of our non-obese patient, if the clinical presentation of familial IIH was similar to that of sporadic IIH.
