Description Ethambutol, a first line drug for mycobacterial infection, is known to cause toxicity to the optic nerves and chiasm. Recent studies have used the multifocal ERG (mfERG) to demonstrate dysfunction in outer and middle layers of the retina in some patients with presumed ethambutol optic neuropathies. Could presumed ethambutol chiasmopathies also reflect retinal toxicity in some cases?
