Description |
Downbeat nystagmus may reflect a wide variety of underlying pathology, including cerebellar degeneration, craniocervical malformations, medication effect, or paraneoplastic syndromes; however, diagnostic testing is unrevealing in as many as 38% of cases in large series.[1] We sought to determine whether recent advances in genetic and immunologic testing shed further light on these "idiopathic" cases, and to assess the benefit of extended diagnostic testing. |
