Description Central retinal vein occlusion (CRVO) commonly presents with tortuous retinal veins, extensive retinal hemorrhage, and edema of the macula and optic nerve head. Identification of forme fruste CRVO, in which the above features are variably present or disproportionate to one another, remains equally important but may be more challenging. We present a series of 13 patients with atypical findings of CRVO, ranging from a normal optic nerve head with minimal venous dilation and retinal hemorrhage to disproportionate optic nerve head edema with respect to the degree of retinal hemorrhage. These patients often present with atypical complaints which are important to associate with forme fruste CRVO.
