Collection Inventory +/-Biographical Note/Historical Note +/-In 1928, Westminster College began collecting newspaper articles about its activities, faculty, and students. The articles were first placed in scrapbooks, then photocopied and placed in binders. The earlier compilations were microfilmed as part of the collection entitled Westminster College Communications Department newspaper clipping and scrapbooks, 1928-1997 (ACC-081). Between 1999 and 2003 the Office of Communications continued to collect copies of articles with news of Westminster College published in various newspapers. Since 2004, a variety of publications, newsletters, and updates have been posted on the Westminster College Office of Communications website. In 2013 the office, under new leadership, was renamed Office of Marketing and Communications. The Westminster College Office of Marketing and Communications is the primary source for accurate and current information about Westminster College. The office advances Westminster's position as a leader in higher education by promoting the college's people, programs, and educational philosophy; and by publicizing its accomplishments and resources to a wide array of internal and external audiences. The staff works with external news organizations, produces a wide range of print materials, and creates and maintains a strategic web presence to ensure clear, concise communication of ideas and initiatives. The Office of Marketing and Communications maintains online press releases and Westminster in the news articles, official college graphics and images, a list of media experts by discipline, department, and research interest. Internal communications include electronic newsletters: the Westminster Update, a monthly newsletter and the Westminster Events eNewsletter a weekly newsletter for faculty and staff. Content Description +/-This collection consists of weekly events newsletters, news reports, and other notifications of activities at Westminster College, Salt Lake City, Utah. These weekly notifications were distributed electronically by the Office of Communications only between the years 2005 to 2006 to all campus administrative offices, faculty and staff. A copy of each newsletter and report was also maintained on the Office of Communications' website (created in 2004). These notifications include a weekly newsletter listing upcoming campus events and reports summarizing outside news reports (i.e., Salt Lake tribune and the Deseret news) on Westminster College events. The events described include the arts (exhibits, musical performances, poetry readings, theater, etc.), lecture series, sports activities, and gatherings for alumni, faculty and students. Twenty-four hours advance notice is encouraged. Restrictions on Use: It is the responsibility of the researcher to obtain any necessary copyright clearances.
