Biographical Note/Historical Note +/-Over the years, the title of the chief academic officer of Westminster College has changed. From 1901-1976, 16 men served as the Dean (of the College) charged with overseeing faculty affairs as part of their duties. Beginning in 1981, the title changed to "Academic Vice-President and Dean of the Faculty", and in 2003 to "Provost and Vice-President for Academic Affairs". Sheldon Jackson College (Salt Lake City, Utah) was in existence from 1895-1901. Robert Gibson McNiece was the Dean from 1897 through the 1901 transition to Westminster College, thus serving as the first dean of Westminster College from 1901-1913. Content Description +/-This collection consists of the handbooks issued 1950-2001 for the faculty of Westminster College, Salt Lake City, Utah. The handbooks contain the policy, procedures, and expectations of faculty members. The handbooks were issued by the chief academic officer of the college. From the 1950s until 1976 this was the Dean of the College. Since 1980 the title of this officer has been the Academic Vice-President and Dean of Faculty or the Vice-President for Academic Affairs. The handbooks in this collection were issued during the years the following deans served as the chief academic officer: Jesse Scott Boughton, Milton C. Ballenger, Allen M. Bosch, Curtis C. McDonald, Allan Kuusisto, Michael Gershowitz, and Steve Baar. Collection Use +/-Restrictions on Access: Open to public research.
