Title |
Can Capitalism be saved? |
Description |
Marked-up typescript (22 pages) of an address by Marriner S. Eccles to a meeting of the Harvard Business School Club in New York City on February 19, 1935. Accompanied by prior and follow-up correspondence related to the occasion, including from people seeking copies of the speech, and Eccles' responses. He did not have copies to share and said he wished to avoid publicity and controversy while legislation was pending (namely, the Banking Act of 1935). There is also a "confidential" text of minutes from a regular meeting of account managers at C.W. Young & Col, in New York, held on April 9, 1934, with a transcript of a speech by Edward Ingalls, and a summary by Ingalls of Governor Eccles's Feb. 19 speech. |
