Description |
Typescript copy by George Tanner of the journal of James S. Brown from September 29, 1875, to August 14, 1877 (31 pages), covering his work with the Indians of Arizona and New Mexico during several journeys. During the journey in fall of 1875 and winter of 1876, his party was at Moenkopi and also explored the San Francisco Mountains of Arizona. On the second journey, in the spring of 1876, the party visited Zuni Pueblo in New Mexico and then spent the summer among the Navajo and Hopi Indians in the Moenkopi area. In the winter of 1877, Brown led a party of settlers to live and farm at Moenkopi. |
