Description |
Scan of a printed songbook with hand drawn pen and ink illustrations, with foreword by folklorist Kenneth S. Goldstein. The songbook includes 43 songs, most of them written by Utah Phillips in folklore style. Each song has music score, lyrics, and a story preceding it, providing background information relating to the song. As a collection, these songs portray and honor the life of ordinary working class people in the west, mainly around Utah area. Many of the songs carry strong political messages from the Labor Movement in the 1930s |
