Show : EDDINGTON and sets out to be an illustrator. Some men with a year or two of drawing training and a lot of inherent ability have been known to succeed to some degree with this system. Usually, however, this type of illustrator finds himself ill-equipped after a short time in this highly competitive field and begins the arduous job of backtracking into more painting classes and the study of the Masters. Actually he has wasted most of his time in lost motion. There is not a short cut to illustration. A student seeking the quickest route to illustrative success might best be advised to take a three or four year course in a good academic painting school. The current commercial methods and techniques taught in a commercial art school can be picked-up with relative ease after one has learned the sound, basic elements-drawing, color, and composition. Beginning at the University as an art instructor in 1952, Edding-ton also continued to pursue a highly successful career as a local designer, became design consultant to the University of Utah Press, and today, following completion of a two decade association with the "U" art department in 1969, continues in Salt Lake City, as head of Kieth Eddington and Associates, one of the area's most respected graphic design firms. EDDINGTON, Patrick, a local painter, is an art educator and outstanding art teacher at Northwest Junior High School in the Salt Lake District. EDISON STREET GALLERY, Salt Lake City, is an important local photographic art gallery operated by Borge Anderson and Associates. The photographer John Telford has spent several years as its busy director. EDWARDS, Glen L., has been a member of the Utah State University art faculty since 1969 and is probably this area's busiest illustrator. The distinctive drawings of Edwards appear regularly not only in local publications but many national ones as well. EG AN, Steve, is a gifted watercolorist of the present period and member of the Associated Utah Artists. EISMAN, Randi, is a present-day figure painter who has taught for the University of Utah Division of Continuing Education as an Associate Instructor of that school's Department of Art. ELDRIDGE, Cora Hooper, is a Utah artist of some note.
